About the blog

This is a space where we explore the world of dating through investigations, tips, advice and so much more. No topics are off-limits, let's get rid of the stigma around discussing your dating life. All discussions will be thoroughly researched and backed by psychology. 

About the author 

I am a psychology student currently working towards my PhD as you probably guessed. The main areas I research are mating and dating (including speed dating and virtual dating), but I look at these topics from an evolutionary psychology perspective. 

Fun Facts

  • I am a cheerleader in my free time, I am a flyer (the one that gets thrown in the air)
  • I drink way too much coffee (standard PhD fuel)
  • My favourite film is Lion King (1994)

Experience

I received my BSc in Psychology with First Class Honors in 2018. I then began my postgraduate journey soon after. I wrote my undergraduate dissertation on the effect of humour in a speed dating event. I held actual speed dating events at my university and used them as my data collection method. 

My main areas of research are from the evolutionary psychology perspective. I first discovered evolutionary psychology when I took it as a module in my 2nd year as an undergraduate. I instantly loved it - I find all aspects fascinating. I found a way to combine another of my favourite areas of psychology; HUMOUR. 
Evolution and humour are two areas I never expected to be researching when I came to university but now I am so glad I picked the modules I did.

I currently work with dating websites & apps providing scientific background on dating as well as writing fun blog posts to support their web pages. I use my knowledge of how mate preferences and dating skills have evolved to inform these companies and help their users.
