A date doesn’t have to be expensive to be good.

Dating is already stressful; we don’t need the added worry about whether or not you can afford to go out on a date.


Just because a date is held in a fancy restaurant with expensive food, doesn’t automatically make it a great date. There are so many awesome date ideas that won’t cost lots of money– some are even completely free. Some people don’t always feel comfortable letting a new date know about their financial situation right away and could feel awkward bringing this up. If you feel like this, try suggesting some of these ideas to your date. 

If it's sunny:

Picnics


This idea will only need a bit of preparation, you can cook most of your food at home which will also help to keep costs low. Head out with a blanket and your stash of food to a wonderful spot and get to know your date. You could both cook something to bring along – which can help you get to know each other as you discuss your favourite foods.

Walks

Whether this is just a short walk along the beach or up along a mountain trail for a hike this is another great idea if you love the outdoors. You can get some exercise as well as get to know your date. This can be perfect if getting outdoors is important to you as you can ensure you are finding a date who will also have that in common.

If you want to stay indoors:

Grab a coffee

Grabbing a coffee can be a relaxing start to a date, to help keep it budget-friendly try and find some local independent coffee shops! They often have lower prices than chains and you will also be helping support a local business.


Museum/Exhibits

Depending on your location there will often be a museum or other attractions with free or reduced price admissions on certain days. This kind of date is great if you love to learn, you and your date can go around and discuss all these amazing exhibits.

Make the most of discounts and offers.

Check websites like groupon or wowcher, you can get money off almost anything on these websites. Check out what deals are on offer in your area and you can go out for a fancy meal for half the price!

Find free local events

In most towns and cities there will be free events you can attend, anything can become a date if you are creative enough! You can try searching on Google or Facebook for free events in your area, and don’t forger about websites like Eventbrite – where you can specify free events in your search.
